Board Member
Sipho Mbele has served in excess of ten years in senior management in the public sector, including management of intergovernmental relations, stakeholder management, content development and developmental communication.
Sipho Mbele’s past experience includes developing the institutional structure of the Gauteng Transport Management Authority (GMTA); serving on the Transport Board (GTMA and Urban Transport Board); participation in the transport legislative processes, serving on the Steering Committee on behalf of the Department of Economic Development; developing a FIFA 2010 Transport Master Plan for Gauteng and the implementation of the plan through the Gauteng Freight and Logistics Strategy. He has served in the Strategic Infrastructure Programme (SIP) 2, representing the Gauteng Department of Economic Development. During his participation in the formulation process of the SIP 2 programme, the Economic Infrastructure Bill later became legislation.
He was the Chairperson of South African Youth Council between 1998- 2000 and during this period was involved in National Youth Development Policy. He was also involved in the amalgamation of the National Youth Commission and Umsobonvu Fund leading to the establishment of the National Youth Development Agency
Sipho holds a BSc from UNISA and a Policy and Governance qualification from Wits Graduate School of Public Development. He is currently studying for his Honours in Developmental Studies. He has attended courses on languages at Wits University; Transport Economics, Transport Planning and Environmental Management at Stellenbosch University; on Political Science in Denmark and has attended conferences and presented papers on various subjects including in Belgium and locally.
Sipho Mbele is currently a Board member of TANC and also a PBF Convenor from April 2021.
