Strategic Executive: Operations
Thembani is a seasoned administrator with vast expertise in shared services, business process improvement, performance management, M&E, and operations. She began her career as a teacher and worked her way up the corporate ladder starting off as a Personal Assistant, assistant director, management consultant, director, head of corporate services, chief of staff, and now, operations executive.
Thembani held senior management positions in the public (3 spheres of government) and private sectors, where she was responsible for strategy and planning, general and change management, corporate support services, budgeting and financial management, customer service, and project management. She is a goal-oriented individual who boldly encourages, mobilizes, and trains people to achieve high-performance standards. She was a member of the team that collaborated with the Gauteng government.
She was a member of the team that collaborated with the Gauteng Provincial Treasury to design and implement government financial reforms, including the establishment of agency monitoring within the GPG and the listing of the GEP. She introduced performance monitoring of the Mayoral Committee as an advisor to the Executive Mayor of Ekurhuleni, which increased executive performance supervision. In addition, Thembani has been credited for driving change initiatives in several consulting assignments, resulting in effective project acceptance and execution. She was a Chief of Staff in the office of the Minister in the Presidency before joining the OR Tambo SEZ.
