Design50 programme overview

Rapid technological development has necessitated the need for high level skilled jewellery designers that can meet industry needs and revitalise the South African jewellery market.

The Design50 Commercial Jewellery Design Project aims to increase the technical proficiency of learners enrolled in the course to produce skilled designers who, in conjunction with jewellery manufacturers, will contribute to developing the South African jewellery market by producing high quality products that follow and set fashion trends, are well marketed and which can compete locally and in the global market.

The 11-month Design50 programme offers postgraduate students extensive training in Marketing, Commercial Jewellery Design and Product Development utilizing state of the art Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing technology.

Working closely with key figures within the jewellery industry Design@50 equips students with an invaluable education and skills base, thereby ensuring that the candidates develop a competitive edge in commercial jewellery design which allows them to become the leading jewellery design entrepreneurs and innovators of tomorrow.
